There's no account, so there's no account data

Oyestore's Almanac has no sign-up, no login, and no server-side database of visitors. We don't know who you are, and we're not trying to find out.

What stays only on your device

Your Oyestore Passport (miles, rank, streak, stamps), any Trip Notes you scribble, and any photos you pin to The Wall are saved in your browser's own local storage - never uploaded, never sent to us, never visible to anyone else. Clearing your browser data, using a different browser, or switching devices means starting over, because none of it exists anywhere but that one browser. Photos you pin to The Wall are resized on your own device before being saved locally - they never leave it.

Real-time weather

If you allow it, the site asks your browser for your approximate location to fetch current weather and set the page's mood (rain, sun, autumn leaves, and so on). That location is sent directly from your browser to Open-Meteo, a third-party weather service - it passes through our site's code but isn't logged or stored by us anywhere. The result is cached in your own browser for 30 minutes so it isn't re-fetched on every page load. If you decline location access, or the request fails, the weather effect either falls back to a fixed reference location (Varkala, Kerala) or is simply skipped - the rest of the site works exactly the same either way.

YouTube embeds

Songs stream through YouTube's own embedded player. Google/YouTube may set their own cookies and collect data when a video is loaded or played, under their own terms - see Google's Privacy Policy. That's between you and Google; we don't receive any of it.

Analytics

This site uses Vercel Web Analytics to see aggregate traffic - which pages get visited, roughly how many people, which links get clicked. It's cookie-less and doesn't build a profile of you individually; we just see numbers and trends, not "who."

What we don't have

• No advertising or ad-tracking cookies
• No cross-site tracking or ad networks
• No server-side database of visitors, accounts, or behaviour
• No selling, sharing, or renting of data we don't even collect

WhatsApp

"Explore this chapter," "book this chapter," "WhatsApp us" and "Host a chapter" all open a chat on WhatsApp with a pre-filled message - that conversation happens on WhatsApp, governed by WhatsApp/Meta's own privacy policy, not this one. We only see what you choose to send us in that chat.
